I have identified as a somewhat ignorant consumer before and my tastes are probably in a deeply worn groove originating in comfortable familiarity but as well as exposing me to unknown material you guys provide an educating backdrop stimulating further exploration. As a resource your work and this open platform is invaluable. So thank you yet again !

A track on a recently downloaded older post on another blogsite Afrosynth (Kalahari Surfers' Township Beat) brought me up short yesterday. Do I have the right to indulge my enjoyment of music that springs from a time that reflects other peoples hardship? Yes, there is an intellectual or cerebral conflict perhaps but even though I dont understand the language of the songs the music often 'speaks' to me... I also enjoy Bulgarian choral music recorded at a time when that country was in an odd political state... and there are many other examples Greek songs from the 60's and 70's etc etc. So I am dodging the guilt for now and loving the sounds...
Now, I need to stop typing and return to jigging about my study!Eyepictureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15501216466468548735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7400063036260543724.post-64085515454573991052011-10-20T08:38:23.102+01:002011-10-20T08:38:23.102+01:00Chris, thanks for digging deep into that stash of ...Chris, thanks for digging deep into that stash of 78s and recovering the hidden sounds and stories.matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14742182508844340006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7400063036260543724.post-67115511269302839882011-10-20T03:53:03.526+01:002011-10-20T03:53:03.526+01:00Great post, Chris!
